Most written work is published in one singular form and leaves the reader to meet it there. This works well enough when the reader has the time, stamina, fluency, familiarity, and attention the form assumes. That, however, is far less often than always. The PARSE approach starts from a fairly ordinary observation: that readers do not always arrive to a work in the same condition. Sometimes for more long-term reasons; sometimes because it's been a long day and the reader simply doesn't have the bandwidth for fourteen footnotes on page one. This format aims to distinguish access to a work from the work’s intellectual substance, and presents the work through three familial layers:

This layer provides an avenue to work substantively with the ideas in the paper on a more immediate basis. The prompts allow readers to engage with the concepts individually or with colleagues, reading groups, classes, family or friends.
